# About See Your Disk — See Your Disk

_Last updated: 2026-11-01_

See Your Disk is a Mac app that draws your disk as a map of blocks and cleans caches and leftovers safely. It is built by **bikmeev**, an independent developer (publisher on the App Store: Desert Rose FZE).

## Why it exists

It started with a real MacBook where Storage settings showed almost 59 GB of System Data and no way to see what was inside. Digging in Terminal found about 31 GB in `~/Library/Caches`, around 10 GB of Xcode and simulator data, and a Docker disk image that looked far bigger than it was. The app and the guides on this site come from that investigation: measure first, then clean only what is safe.

## How the guides are written and checked

- Read-only commands are run on a real Mac (macOS 27 at the time of writing) before they appear in a guide.
- Commands that delete something are shown with a preview (`--dry-run`, a list command) or a backup step wherever the tool allows it.
- Numbers marked as coming from one Mac really come from one Mac. They are examples, not averages.
- Anything that could not be verified is written as a hedge ("usually", "on many versions") instead of a promise.
- Guides are drafted with AI assistance and then checked against real command output. Each page shows when it was last updated.
- If you find a mistake, write to the address below and it will be fixed.
